Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar successfully hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session and hands-on workshop titled “Complex Angioplasty & The Role of Imaging”, organized by the Department of Cardiac Sciences. The event brought together some of the country’s leading cardiology experts, including renowned national faculty Dr. Debadatta Bhattacharya and Dr. Pankaj Manoria, along with the hospital’s accomplished in-house cardiac team.
The workshop was curated by senior specialists of the hospital including Dr. Lingaraj Nath, Senior Consultant – Interventional Cardiology & Director, Cath Lab; Dr. J.K. Padhi, Senior Consultant & Director – Interventional Cardiology; Dr. Dibyaranjan Behera, Consultant – Interventional Cardiology; Dr. Mahesh Agarwal, Consultant Cardiologist; Dr. Pradeep Kumar Dash, Consultant – Interventional Cardiology; Dr. Jitendra Nath Patnaik, Senior Consultant – Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery; Dr. Bishwajit Mohapatra, Consultant – Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery; and the cardiac anesthesia team comprising Dr. Vivek Chowdhury and Dr. Braja Mohan Rath.
With Bhubaneswar fast emerging as a hub for advanced healthcare in Eastern India, such academic initiatives are pivotal in equipping regional clinicians with global best practices and next-generation cardiac technologies. The session aimed to enhance clinical expertise in complex angioplasty procedures and the strategic use of imaging tools like IVUS (Intravascular Ultrasound) to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Debadatta Bhattacharya presented an insightful session on “The role of imaging in complex PCI”, while Dr. Pankaj Manoria highlighted “How IVUS has transformed interventional cardiology”. The hospital’s in-house team led a case-based discussion showcasing real-world applications of the techniques covered. The workshop concluded with an engaging Q&A session, a vote of thanks from Dr. Nath, and a networking lunch.
